Frequently Asked Questions about Your Fund

1. I’d like to set up a Your Fund account.  What do I do?
   This feature will be available to all CCCF donors with Donor Advised funds.  Complete instructions will be sent to you when your fund is established.  Click here for more information on this feature.  If you don’t have a fund at the Foundation, click here to learn how you can create one.

2. Can I change my Your Fund user name or password?
   The user name is assigned by the Chattanooga Christian Community Foundation and cannot be changed.  However, donors can change their password online at the log-in screen.

3.  What if I forget my user name or password?
   Just e-mail us or give us a call at 423-266-5257.

4. How do I recommend a grant from my fund?
   It’s easy.  If you have a Your Fund account, you may recommend grants using our online form.  If you do not have a Your Fund account, you simply fill out a grant recommendation form provided by CCCF.  Be sure to include the proper name of the organization, the amount of the grant, any special purposes of the grant, and the address of the organization.  You can either fax the form (423-265-0949) or mail it to us.  If you have authorized us to accept your recommendation by telephone, you can also call us at 423-266-5257.

5.  What is the minimum grant amount I can recommend?
   The Foundation has no minimum amount established for grant recommendations.  However, for administrative purposes, we would ask that you consider $100 as an acceptable minimum.

6. How long does it take to process my grant recommendations?
   The Foundation processes grants on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  Generally, grants to pre-approved organizations can be paid same day or the next day.  Larger grants or grants to organizations that must be approved can take longer. Also, due to the volume of grant recommendations received in December each year, we request that recommendations be forwarded to the Foundation by December 10 to process by year-end.

7. Can I make grant recommendations to satisfy personal pledges?
   No. The IRS strictly prohibits this type of activity.  When you are approached by an organization to make a pledge, we suggest that you use the following language to inform them of your recommendation to the Foundation:

   “THIS IS NOT A PLEDGE.  I will, however, recommend that a grant of $_____ be made to your organization from the _______(name of fund)________ of the Chattanooga Christian Community Foundation.”

8. Can the fund I advise make grants from which I receive benefits, such as tickets to an event or preferred parking?
   No. Again, the IRS strictly prohibits this type of activity. When you make a gift to CCCF, we provide you with a letter that says “no goods or services were received for your gift.”  This statement confirms to your accountant and to the IRS that the full amount of your gift is tax-deductible.  If you receive any personal benefit from a grant made through us, then the IRS may challenge the deductibility of your original gift and impose penalties on you.  If you have any questions regarding the relevance of this rule to a recommendation you are planning to make, please contact the Foundation and we will be happy to investigate the matter further.
